Advocacy Committee

The Advocacy Committee advocates for policies that eliminate racism in Sharon and creates opportunities

for community engagement in anti-racism activism. The Advocacy Committee is currently building the infrastructure to respond to emergent/urgent events that call for a public show of support. They engage Sharon residents in advocacy for the elimination of, raising awareness of, and developing accountability for racism in Sharon.

Alisha Sarang-Sieminski is the Chair of the Advocacy Committee.

 

Community Education Committee

The Community Education Committee educates and empowers residents to build an anti-racist alliance across communities within Sharon.They are currently focused on holding events that support SREA’s mission, often in collaboration with other local organizations.

Louise Marcoux is the Chair of the Community Education Committee.

 

K-12 Committee

The K-12 Committee addresses systemic racism within Sharon Public Schools through advocacy, as well as support and further development of existing antiracist efforts within Sharon Public Schools. Some examples of the work they are currently focused on include: strengthening PTO DEI Committees within the Sharon Elementary Schools and Middle School, advocating for teacher training on racial equity elements of the curriculum, supporting existing diversity and anti-racist groups within the High School, providing parent-focused education about racial equity, and supporting students enrolled in the METCO Program.

Jennifer Illuzzi and Manjula Riley are Co-Chairs of the K-12 Committee.

 

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee oversees communication with the Sharon community, including our website, blog, social media platforms, and all email communications. They also manage internal communication systems. Arielle Bobek and Adrienne DiMarco are the Co-Chairs the Communications Committee.

 

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee identifies and applies for grant opportunities and initiates donor campaigns.
